M27 lane closures after oil spill from vehicle '“ with three miles of congestion

PART OF two lanes on the M27 westbound were closed after a vehicle shed oil on to the carriageway.

Two lanes were blocked between J7 for Hedge End and J5 for Southampton.

Police said the spill was reported to them at 10.58 after a vehicle lost its load '“ an empty liquid container '“ on the carriageway.

A spokesman from Hampshire police added: '˜There was a small amount of liquid that had to be washed down from lanes two and three by the fire service.

'˜No-one was hurt.'

The incident was cleared at just before 11.45am.

At 11.45am there were approximately three miles of congestion on approach '“ delays should start to ease.
