Detectives have charged a man with attempted kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence this morning.

Roger Seath, 41, of no fixed address, has also been charged with possession of a bladed article.

He is being held in custody, police said.

The charge comes after police received a report of a suspicious man following and trying to stop and talk to a 14-year-old girl on Kent Road just before 4pm on Wednesday.

Police have advised people to stay alert but not alarmed. They urged people to remind children and teenagers of stranger danger and to report anything or anyone suspicious to 101, or call 999 in an emergency.
