A TRADE union council is to hold a meeting about fighting austerity locally and nationally.
Portsmouth Trade Union Council has organised the public meeting, being held tomorrow at 7.30pm, to highlight the ongoing fight against austerity.
There will be three speakers: Chris Baugh, assistant general secretary at the Public and Commercial Services Trade Union; Sean Hoyle, president of the Rail, Maritime & Transport Trade Union and Dr Veronika Wagner from Doctors in UNITE.
Jon Woods, chair of Portsmouth Trade Union Council, said: ‘The prime minister’s claim austerity is over is a cynical lie.
‘Ten years on, the government continues to make the many pay for the banking crash caused by the few. This public meeting will show how trade unions are at the forefront of the struggle against austerity.’
The meeting will be held at University Park Building, King Henry I Street, PO1 2BZ.
