Multiple accidents on the M3 and M27 cause rush-hour chaos

DELAYS plagued the M27 and M3 for hours this morning after four accidents on both of the motorways.

There was an accident on the M27 on the outside lane eastbound, between J11 for Fareham to J12 near Port Solent, just after 7am. Four vehicles were involved with one person sustaining a minor injury. This was cleared by 8.20am.

During rush-hour one lane was closed on the M3 northbound, between J11 for Winchester and J12, causing delays of 70-minutes from the M27. This incident involved two vehicles and was cleared by 8.24am, with no injuries sustained.

Two of the northbound lanes were also closed before that, at 7am, following a three-vehicle collision near J11 all of which were moved to the hard shoulder. Three people sustained minor injuries.

There was also a further incident on the M3 southbound where lanes two and three were blocked between J11 and J12, with a 40-minute delay at the time it happened.

Police were called at 7.20am and this incident involved four vehicles, with no injuries sustained. This was cleared by 8.17am.

Although the accidents were cleared in good time, there was traffic chaos on the roads for some time.
