TWO FRIENDS have been collaborating on a new song with the hope to represent the UK at next year's Eurovision Song Contest.
Aled Price and Robert New, have entered the BBC’s public songs competition in the bid to stand on stage in Tel Aviv, Isral next year at the famous music contest.
The duo, known as the White Noise Fanatics, pride themselves on the eclectic mix of styles their music incorporates, with inspiration coming from Fleetwood Mac, All Saints and also the best of 90s house music.
Robert, 35, said: ‘We saw the advert inviting members of the public to submit songs and immediately we thought it might be fun and worth doing.
‘It might be a tough slog, but we’ve got as good a chance as anyone to win’.
Due to the nature of the competition, details of their entry are not to be released but Robert added: ‘You’ll get the flavour from some of the other demos we’ve uploaded.’
Their pair’s plans for taking on the music world are not limited to Eurovision with their debut single ‘City by the Sea’ set for release in early January, along with an as-of-yet untitled EP.
They describe their music as having an upbeat synth-pop style.
Robert said: ‘Our music has ‘a strong hook, like-ability and is easy to connect with people.
‘We’ve also been talking to some record labels and have hopes of getting signed once our EP is out’.
Aled, 26, and Robert met earlier this year through mutual friends Robert explained: ‘Aled’s a musician and I’m a musician so we thought let’s do something with this.’
The pair have also been in contact with Portsmouth Guildhall with plans to perform there on the last weekend of January and they want to stay busy this summer on the festival circuit and have applied to every one from Victorious to Glastonbury.
Robert added‘We didn’t want to be stuck covering other people’s songs and doing pub gigs.
‘We’re in contact with venue promoters and have hopes of doing a small tour around Spring time, performing in Brighton, Bournemouth, London and other areas round the south, as well as the big cities such a Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle.’
