Solent Marine Academy open day at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard’s Boathouse 4

HIGHBURY College’s new Solent Marine Academy is having an open day tomorrow for those interested in a marine apprenticeship.

The event is at the Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard’s Boathouse 4 from 10am to 3pm.

The academy is offering apprenticeships that develop skills needed for working in the marine industry.

The course is run by a staff who share many years of industry and academic experience.

Apprentices will be preparing for a career in an industry that employs over 40,000 people and will be given the opportunity to work with one of over 400 marine companies based in the area.

To encourage people who are interested to go to the open day and find out more, the college is offering free entry to Action Stations, the dockyard’s interactive naval exhibition, to anyone who visits Boathouse 4.

Inside the boathouse, speakers from Sunsail, the Portsmouth-based International Boatbuilding Training College, and other companies offering an insight into the marine industry locally, nationally and internationally.
