FREE tips on how to avoid falling victim to ‘abhorrent’ scammers are being offered.

The session has been set up by Southsea-based Paul Murray Investments on Friday, November 30.

Police and cyber security experts will be on hand giving valuable information on how to dodge crooks online.

Lisa Murray, Paul’s wife, has helped with coordinating the day, said one of her elderly relatives was conned out of £30,000 of her life savings and wanted to ensure the city’s other vulnerable residents weren’t affected.

She said: ‘I feel offended by scammers. It’s abhorrent that people like that have no care of compassion about the misery and financial ruin they can cause.’

The Financial Scam Smart Day to be held at the Portsmouth’s Marriott Hotel, in Southampton Road.

Tickets are free and can be booked by calling  023 9229 5300 or by visiting  eventbrite.co.uk/e/financi al-scam-smart-day-tickets-47842774025
