THOUSANDS of people have backed a petition calling on Portsmouth City Council to leave a vital community hub in Portsmouth alone.

The city council has unveiled controversial plans to kick out tenants of The Lodge Arts Centre from its home in Victoria Park.

The news has sparked fury in the community.

So far 2,615 people have backed an online campaign urging the authority to change its mind.
