MORE THAN a thousand schoolchildren will sing their hearts out tonight at this year’s school carols service at Portsmouth Guildhall.

A total of 30 schools will have pupils represented at the service on the steps to the Guildhall.

The free annual event will also include a visit from Father Christmas with the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Councillor David Fuller, switching on the lights of the Guildhall Square Christmas tree.

Music will also be provided by the Salvation Army Portsmouth Citadel band and the Portsmouth Music Service will conduct the schools.

The event gets underway from 6.15pm.
