Wightlink travellers facing 90 minute delays this afternoon

Customers travelling on Wightlink ferries between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight this afternoon are facing huge delays.Â

Ships taking the route between the city and Fishbourne are facing disruptions of between 60 and 90 minutes due to a technical fault on a ferry. 

Wightlink are '˜working hard' to repair the faulty ship but have apologised to travellers impacted by the delays.

On twitter the company wrote: '˜Hello. Our teams are working hard to resolve the technical issue on one of our ships but some customers may experience delays between 60-90 minutes this afternoon.

'˜Our apologies for any changes to your travel plans. We'll keep you updated.' 

The Wightlink delays are also causing congestion around the ferry terminal in Portsmouth which is affecting St Georges Road, Museum Road, Cambridge Road and the Terraces.

The journey between Portsmouth and Fishbourne usually takes 45 minutes on a Wightlink Ferry. 

The Portsmouth to Ryde FastCat service is running on time from Portsmouth Harbour.Â
