Young and old set to mix at fun city event

OLD and young are coming together for tea and dancing at a unique event that promotes community spirit and fends off social isolation.

Boogies Mites and Age UK have teamed up to host monthly sessions at the Bradbury Centre in Kingston Road for children right through to pensioners.

The event, which has been running for only four months, is already so popular that people need a ticket.

Nicole Heard, who set up the inter-generational meet-up with Age UK, said: ‘Everyone who comes absolutely loves it. They have a boogie session, tea and chat and get to mix with people of all ages.

‘The aim is for it to build community spirit and bring people together who may not normally mix. You have children socialising with older people, as well as those in-between.

‘The sessions also help build skills like hand coordination for both young and old.’

The meet-up is on March 1 at 12pm.

Family tickets cost £5.
