POLICE responded to a concern for welfare call for somebody inside a flat above an empty high street shop.
But when Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s rescue team gained entry to the flat, above Carpet Services in Waterlooville at 12pm today, there was nobody inside.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: ‘Police called us because they had a reason to believe someone was locked inside the building, there was a concern for welfare.
‘We gained entry for officers but there was no-one inside so we handed the incident back over to police.’
The shop is on London Road in Waterlooville’s town centre.
Hampshire police have been contacted about the incident.
