Young driver injured in late night Waterlooville crash

A YOUNG driver came off the road late last night while driving southbound on the A3(M), between J2 at Horndean and J3 at Waterlooville.

Police said the male, in his 20s, was driving a Vauxhall Corsa that left the road and ended up in trees and bushes, just before 10.45pm.

Firefighters from Cosham Fire Station helped to release the man from his car by cutting away the trees and bushes.

Crew manager Simon Bone attended the incident and said: '˜We had to gain access to him to release him.

'˜He was lucky and didn't sustain any significant injuries.

'˜Once we got to him we opened his door and helped him out and helped him to walk.'

A spokesperson from Hampshire police said the young man sustained one minor injury and the scene was cleared by 12.30am.
