The Saunders family, from Rhodesia, documented their adventure in their 33ft-ketch Walkabout until they safely berthed at Emsworth.

Mike Saunders took his wife Liz and their four children on a 14,000 mile adventure from Rhodesia to South Africa across the Atlantic to America and back to England.

Mr Saunders’ ambition was to build another boat and do the whole journey again – but quicker.

He said: ‘I never realised how much more difficult it was to end a voyage than begin one. I cannot rest from travel.’

Their documentary was being aired out on Southern because of its success at Thames Television.
