With temperatures along the south coast reaching 21C (nearly 70F) holidaymakers and locals flocked to the beaches.

Director of Leisure Services, John Whittle, said: ‘The beach was packed with residents and holidaymakers, including many from France, Germany and Holland.’

As Southsea sizzled under the sun, which brought crowds out in their hundreds, News photographer Mike Walker was out and about on the seafront and captured this trio enjoying candyfloss.
