Handy Andy makes successful switch

Andy Snow made the most of a spot role reversal.

The Portsmouth charter skipper took time out to jump aboard a friend’s boat for some fishing recently.

The in-shore hunt for turbot and brill to the east of the island was slow – with just the odd dogfish and small ray landed in the first few hours.

But as the session climaxed, Snow hooked a fine turbot on an 8lb-class fixed-spool outfit, with mackerel strip on a long 20lb fluorocarbon trace with a 4/0 hook.

In coarse action, Preston Innovations DELCAC have reeled in the Avon Valley Summer League title.

They did enough in the final round at Edenbridge, Kent, to take the team crown.

Dave Hughes won the individual title – catching skimmers and bream on the feeder using groundbait with worm weighing 40lb 7oz.

Tobias Sanders triumphed in the recent MBK Leisures junior open with 15lb 14oz.

The Clanfield angler topped the under-nine category and went on to beat 26 rivals overall.

Next match is September 28 at Coloured Ponds. Midday draw. Call 07885 754365 or visit mbkleisures.co.uk
