Have your say

Barry Hanton is all smiles after finally breaking his cod duck.

The Stamshaw Lake Angling Club member has been celebrating after landing a superb 22lb 12oz beauty.

The triumph brings an end to a number of barren seasons for the 66-year-old private hire driver.

He has long coveted an impressive cod catch – and finally all his efforts have paid off.

And with the season now coming to a close – and the Stamshaw Lake Angling Club’s cod pool about to pay out – his success could not have come at a more lucrative time.

Not only has he recorded a personal best for the popular fish but he is now in pole position to land the money.

Now he’s got the taste for big cod, no doubt he will be aiming for bigger and better soon.
