Birthday-boy Ben Snow landed an impressive specimen undulate ray to mark his big day.

The youngster was treated to a trip out with dad, Andy, on Sea Fox.

It proved lucrative as Ben celebrated his 10th birthday with a 13lb 5oz ray.

He also reeled in small smoothhounds and the ever-present dogfish.

It’s rare for the local charter skippers to get a moment to themselves when the fishing and the weather is this good.

But Andy always makes time for a special occasion.

He took Ben and his school friends on a short trip in search of rays.

After feathering some fresh mackerel bait, the happy youngsters went into battle with some hefty fish.

Ben boated his prize, while the other notable fish reeled in on the trip was a fine thornback ray of 13lb 12oz.

It had young Alex Ingram battling in a fast tide for a good 10 minutes before being netted, photographed and released.
