Antony holds court on ton run

Antony Court set a new best to mark his 100th parkrun in style, as he finished eighth with a time of 19min 24sec.

It was a day for good times and Robert Scammell, of Baffins Fit Club, set his best mark for Southsea with 19.19 to finish seventh.

Doug Keyte finished ninth and his time of 19.25 was also a new personal best.

Sheryl James also set a new record of 26.08 on her 175th parkrun.

She has completed 161 of her parkruns at Netley Abbey and has also enjoyed the courses at Havant and Fareham.

Danny White, of Lordshill Road Runners, was first finisher in a time of 17.41. His personal best for the Southsea course is 17.14.

Paddy Haynes, of University of Portsmouth AC, was second in 17.57.

First lady was Emma Williams, of City of Portsmouth, in 20.24.

She has completed all of her 71 parkruns at Southsea and been first lady six times.

Southsea parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9am and is a free timed event.

Portsmouth Lakeside

parkrun

It was the second Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun on Saturday, with 135 runners completing the 5k course.

The run starts adjacent to the Lakeside North Harbour business complex, and takes runners down around the lake.

It is a mixture of surfaces, with flat tarmac paths to start off, then on to gravel paths, and it allows runners great views of the lake.

On Saturday there were club runners, runners with buggies, runners with dogs, and runners of all abilities.

Also, there were lots of milestone shirts on display, including a 250 shirt worn by Danny Norman who completed his 477th parkrun with his trip to Portsmouth.

Chichester’s James Baker was first to finish with a time of 16.14 to set the new course record.

Victory’s Jackie Lloyd finished first lady with a time of 20.28.

Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun are looking for volunteers for the coming weeks.

Fareham parkrun

A total of 153 runners completed the fifth Fareham parkrun on a very warm and sunny Saturday morning at Cams Hall Estate.

Julian Manning, of Denmead Striders, led the way around the nice out-and-back course and received plenty of encouragement from those going in the other direction.

His time was 18.27 and it was his second first place at Fareham.

David Cato, of Eton Manor AC, finished second and he recorded a time of 18.42 on his first appearance at the Fareham event.

Jessica Davidson, who runs for Fareham Crusaders, completed her first parkrun and finished as first female with a time of 23.19.
