Fareham Crusaders will be a powerful presence when they turn out in force for the Stubbington 10k next month.

The club have reached the impressive mark of more than 100 entrants registered for the popular local event taking place on Sunday, January 18.

Entries for the race are closed, with the 2,000 limit having been reached in early December.

Crusaders have 115 registered to hit the start line.

That number is set to make Fareham the best represented of any club in the field.

Crusaders race secretary Paul Turner said: ‘The Stubbington 10k race is always one of the most popular races in our calendar.

‘In 2015 we will be fielding what we believe to be the largest numbers of runners from a single club in this particular race.

‘Getting over a hundred together is something quite special.

‘It is a favourite event for us – it’s a lovely scenic route and nearly all flat.

‘Stubbington Green always do a great job organising it.’

Fareham have seen a steady rise in numbers in recent years.

‘We have had quite a big increase over the last couple of years and more and more members are getting involved in races as well,’ added Turner.

‘There will be quite a few doing their first 10k race.

‘We are doing some specific coaching for people who are looking to complete their first 10k and for runners who have a particular target time.’

Fareham Crusaders welcome new members and meet on Tuesday nights at Fareham Leisure Centre (7pm).

They hold a beginners’ evening on the first Tuesday of each month.
