A packed Stokes Bay promenade will be the setting for an exciting final race of the Gosport 5k Summer Series on Tuesday.
The event takes place close to the Bayside Cabin Cafe, Stokes Bay Road, PO12 2QT.
First up is the junior 1k race at 6.45pm, then the adult 5k at 7pm.
A number of runners are still in contention for the overall series prizes.
It promises to be action-packed event again and hopefully weather conditions will provide a platform for lots of personal best times, and a nice evening out for those who will be supporting, cheering, encouraging and running with family and friends.
Event director Nick Carter is looking forward to a great occasion to finish the successful summer series again at Bayside.
He said: ‘The 2018 Gosport 5K Series has been lucky to have the support of sports retailers Alton Sports and we have seen shoe suppliers Hoka, Asics and ON Running also get involved which has been a welcome addition to proceedings.
‘Once again, we have been welcomed by our hosts at Bayside Cabin who provide a perfect back drop to the race and cater for our needs pre and post race.
‘This season we have seen the course record smashed by Isle of Wight runner Joe Wade in a stunning time of 15min 05sec, proving that the course really does lend itself to racing and an opportunity to reach that elusive 5k personal best over the five races.
‘Is there a quicker time to come? We shall see but it will be a close call in the men’s and women’s series trophy race with only a few points separating the front runners.
‘Equally, the youngsters keep getting faster too and we’re excited to see who takes the honours in the finale.
‘The weather forecast looks good and we’re all ready to go. Race HQ opens at 6pm at Bayside Cabin. We hope you can join us for a post series milkshake.’
The Gosport 5k Summer Series offers a fast, out-and-back promenade run, ideal for beginners and experienced runners alike.
There will be medals for all finishers plus prizes for race winners and winners of vet categories one to seven, plus a special series prize for the first male and female.
With a new course record already set it has been a memorable year of racing in the series.
