The Absolute Running Gosport 5k Summer Series is back tonight (7.30pm).
Last year it proved a popular edition to the race calendar and the number of entrants is already well up on the first race from 12 months ago.
The action takes place at Stokes Bay Road, close to the Bayside Cabin Cafe, PO12 2QT.
It is an out-and-back promenade run along the seafront, with an ideal safe course for beginners and experienced runners alike.
Organiser Nick Carter, from Absolute Running, in Gosport, is expecting another exciting series.
He said: ‘I think it is going to be a good year for the series.
‘Numbers are way up on 2014 for the first race.
‘Last year was the first time we did it and we targeted three figures in the adult race by the end of the series.
‘It was a nice progression and we had about 150 for the final event in the series and 50 in the children’s race.
‘This time we have around 150 entrants for race one and, unless it goes crazy before, we will probably still have space for some entries on the day.
‘Anyone who wants to enter on the day will need to arrive early.
‘The Children’s race starts at 7.15pm sharp and the adult’s race is at 7.30pm.
‘We had lots of good feedback last year.
‘It is a fast course if you want to go for a time and a safe course for those who want to have a go.’
This is the first race in the four-event series, with further races on the second Tuesday of the month in July, August and September.
There are medals for all finishers, plus prizes for race winners and winners of veteran categories one to seven, as well as a special series prize for the first male and female.
Series points are based on the best three results.
There is also a children’s 1k sprint at each race, starting at 7.15pm.
The race series is managed by Nice Work.
