Moxham's run continues at perfect Lee-on-the-Solent parkrun

It was a superb 44th Lee-on-the-Solent parkrun on Saturday.

A total of 309 runners completed the 5k course.

Nikki Moxham, of Gosport Road Runners, was first female to cross the line.

She has now done that a remarkable 24 times out of her 28 runs at Lee-on-the-Solent.

Her time on Saturday was 19min 30sec and she was ninth finisher overall.

It was only seven seconds outside her personal best time of 19.23.

Vicky Shaw, of Stubbington Green Runners, was the second female finisher with a new personal best of 19.57 and third was Claire Watkins in 20.48.

Rob Greenwood, also of Stubbington Green, was first finisher overall in 17.58.

First-timer Luke Adderley finished next in a time of 18.08 followed by Gosport’s Chris Buxton (18.39).

Fourth was James Lee in 18.55, then it was Mark John Eaton who got a new personal best of 18.59.

In her report, run director Pippa White revealed it was a superb event.

She said: ‘It was a beautiful morning, clear and sunny, but not too hot, so a perfect day for some lovely running.

‘We saw lots of very happy faces, with 93 personal bests, as well as 53 people having a first run at Lee-on-the-Solent parkrun.

‘Special mentions to Marie Bowers, who took two minutes off her personal best and is nearly 12 minutes faster than her first run in July, last year.

‘Also to fellow run director Tracey Wales, who took 34 seconds from best.’

Melanie Spence has recorded 16 new personal best times out of 31 runs at Lee-on-the-Solent.

The event has been run twice this month by Shyloe Wilson, age eight, who has type 1 diabetes and took part with her mum Victoria for the first time on April 9.

Lee-on-the-Solent parkrun have a great working relationship with the local council.

The event takes place at 9am every Saturday at Marine Parade East, Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, PO13 9LB.

Parking is available at the nearby Beach Road car park.

The meeting and starting point is adjacent to the skate park.

Lee-on-the-Solent parkrun started on July 4 and since then 2,872 different runners, including participants from 171 athletics clubs, have completed 12,003 runs.

This Saturday’s run will be a special occasion for Lee-on-the-Solent parkrun.

It will be their first pacing event, while the Gosport Road Runners are completely taking over all volunteer roles for the run.

This is in honour of their fantastic chairman Giles Cowling.

There will be a huge turnout of club runners making for a great spectacle and a fitting tribute.
