Lucy Wildash and Joseph Wales were the stars of the Great South Run’s Super Saturday after they claimed noteworthy mini-race victories.
The talented duo secured the crowns in their respective junior boys and girls races as the excitement grows ahead of the main event tomorrow.
Basingstoke’s Wildash completed the 2.5k course in a time of 7min 21sec – seeing off the challenge of former City of Portsmouth ace Evie Grice (now Aldershot, Farnham & District) who ran 7.43, and third-placed Anna Sharpe (7.45) from Southampton.
Wales, also from Southampton, completed the boys’ course in 6.34 – 10 seconds faster than second-placed Will Stockley, from Bath, who crossed the line in 6.44.
Third place went to to Sarisbury’s Jamie Domoney (6.48).
The junior girls’ blue race was won by Oxford City’s Alexander Scrivener (7.57), ahead of City of Portsmouth duo Madeline Wilton (8.18) and Cheyenne James (8.25).
Meanwhile, the boy’s blue event was led home by Callum Crook (7.40), with Max Maddison (7.41) second and Aaron Mead third (8.01).
