Bearpark sets new record at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun

CORIN BEARPARK set a new female course record at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun on Saturday.

The Havant Athletics Club runner was making her debut and she finished fourth overall with a super quick time of 19min 29sec.

Her form has been great in recent weeks with some impressive Southern League performances on the track at the Mountbatten Centre.

She also led Havant to success in the Lakeside Road Relays.

It was only her second recorded parkrun and she clearly enjoyed the Portsmouth Lakeside event.

The run takes place every Saturday at Lakeside North Harbour, Western Road.

Hedge End’s Karen Andrews held the previous female course record with a time of 19.47 but has not yet been back to see if she can improve on that time.

A total of 122 runners completed the 5k course on Saturday.

Victory’s Zack Lahlal finished first with a time of 17.06.

Neil Catchlove was second with a time of 17.55 and third went to Rory Murphy, of the David Lloyd Port Solent Tri Club in a new personal best of 18.32.

Portsmouth Joggers are regularly well represented in this parkrun and it was the same on Saturday.

David Johns finished in ninth place, while Ainsley Rood set a new personal best of 22.39, with club-mate James Daly alongside him.

Nicola Thomas set a new personal best of 23.28 and James Sharman clocked 26.00 – his top time so far with more to come.

Michele Webb was another member of Portsmouth Joggers to toast a personal best with her time of 49.01.

The club are based at Lakeside for their training runs on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

It was a day for new bests with Havant’s Antony Burr setting his top time so far of 20.32.

Tom Swift, who runs for Fareham Crusaders, set a good time of 19.30 on his first Lakeside outing.

Godfrey Rhimes, of City of Portsmouth, finished in 20.30 and got a fantastic age grade rating of 80.33% in the 60 to 64 category.
