AN AGREEMENT has been made for property developer Stuart Robinson to buy the land surrounding Fratton Park.

Mr Robinson, part of the Pompey Supporters’ Trust, has exchanged contracts to buy the land, which was owned by former Pompey owner Sacha Gaydamak.

The move is considered to be vital to Pompey’s future.

Mr Robinson also hopes to buy the stadium as the PST aims to take control of the club.

However, the purchase of Fratton Park is the subject of a court case that will be heard in January.

The ground is still owned by Balram Chainrai’s company, Portpin.

Trust chairman Ashley Brown, said: ‘It’s a hugely positive step.

‘As we have been saying in the last week or so, we continue to work with Stuart.

‘He’s still a big part of what we are trying to achieve.

‘The fact that he has secured that land is a significant step.

‘We need to move on from there and work with Stuart to secure the football club alongside it.’
