After the break City improved.

Good work on the right wing by Seb Martin found Ivan Boswell free to fire the ball into the D where Stuart Avery deflected it high into the net.

The win was sealed when City broke at pace down the left channel and Avery found Luke Parsons who spun and dragged the ball across the D for Boswell to deflect past the keeper at full stretch.

City men’s second team lost 4-3 to Winchester fourths.

Daniel Brettell scored a first-half hat-trick to put the City of Portsmouth side 3-2 up at the break.

But Winchester struck back twice in the second period to grab the win.

City took their foot off the gas in the second half, and Winchester took full advantage, scoring a third and eventually a fourth after a calamitous clearance from Dave White which somehow went backwards, and towards a waiting forward who converted to seal a 4-3 win for the visitors.

Man of the match was awarded to Elliot Ghent.
