Fareham Green continued their march towards the Palmerston Cup semi-finals with a 62-46 victory over Prieire De Sion, writes Brian Knight.
The clash started off in close fashion, with Fareham's Cyril Friend and Prieire's Clive Carter locked at 13-13 after 11 ends.
They still could not be separated following 13 ends and it made for a thrilling finish.
Fareham grabbed the rink by the scruff of the neck, though, and delivered three, four and five-shot ends to clinch a 31-17 success.
Lee Cunningham’s rink then moved Green further clear, by defeating Prieire's Mike Elliott.
Fareham were only one shot ahead after seven ends but ultimately proved too strong and won 18-12.
Adrian Snook did reduce the deficit for Prieire by beating Green's Dorian Bishop 17-13.
Fareham clinched 10 points from their victory, with Prieire De Sion claiming two.
Green sit top of League A but second-placed Eastleigh Red Devils gained ground after their 75-36 defeat of Milton Park.
Eastleigh's Mike Barrett and Milton's Dave Brown’s rink started out close, with the Devils only one point ahead after seven ends.
But Barrett's team then got into the groove and pushed on to a 26-13 win.
Robby Bines’ match then extended Eastleigh’s advantage further.
They put Milton's Mick Brown to the sword, romping into a 23-1 lead after nine ends before eventually running out 33-10 winners.
Milton tried to make the scoreline more respectable in Len Reeves’ and they moved into a 9-3 lead after seven ends.
But Eastleigh's Derrick Walker’s team slowly battled back to make it 13-13 after 16 ends.
The Devils then snatched three more points on the last two ends to win 16-13.
Eastleigh bagged 12 points while Park did not collect any.
