The charity tournament put on by Pembroke Gardens BC was a big hit again.
In the open fours, a special presentation was made to the ‘Cosham Four’ – bowlers led by Dave Hammond, who have taken part in every tournament since the first one in 1995.
A total of 64 players competed and in the final, Jim Anderson, Malcolm Jones, Terry Hayward and Mike Hatchard (from Gas Social Bowling) took on Robert and Margaret Hutchinson and Jean and Brian Clasby (from Petersfield BC).
It was the defending champions from Petersfield who won, collecting £120 and a new trophy, introduced to mark the 20th anniversary of the tournament.
Meanwhile in the ladies v men triples, Gas Social’s Les Wilson, and Derek and Ron Langford edged out the trio of Fareham twins Sandy & Carol Pullin and Milton Ladies’ Rose Rogers.
And the ladies’ team skipped by Val Pearce, Liz Pescops and Pat McRae earned hot-shot badges with a maximum on one end.
After a successful event, Pembroke Gardens hope to donate £300 to Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association.
