England calling for Wiseman pair

TEAM WISEMAN are celebrating a double call-up for the Three Nations' Championships.

And the thriving outfit are hoping there could be more honours ahead as they aim for success at the England Boxing Junior Championships.

Mark Chamberlain has been joined by team-mate Lewis Dentith for the competition in Rotherham next weekend.

The pair have been selected for a training camp this weekend at the English Institute of Sport – the home of GB Boxing.

Then they will take on the top talents from Wales and Scotland when the event gets under way.

It’s another landmark for Team Wiseman as the club continues to grow.

Coach Daron Wiseman believes his outfit are now showing their strength.

He said: ‘We knew Mark Chamberlain was already picked.

‘But we got a call from the England coach asking if Lewis is fit and able to box in the Three Nations.

‘He’s training all the time and always in the gym – so he’s ready.

‘He was absolutely over the moon when I told him.

‘Lewis walked into the gym and was on top of the world afterwards.

‘He’ll make the camp this Saturday in Sheffield. That’s for the final preparation for the championships.

‘It’s unbelievable to have two boys boxing for England.

‘Tyler (Hallawell) and Mark have boxed for England before.

‘So to have another in Lewis doing it now is some going for a club our size.

‘Both Mark and Lewis train together and bounce off each other, so that helps. All the boxers are pushing each other along.

‘We’re the club to beat now. We’re going from strength to strength.’

Meanwhile, Bailey Donald and Hallawell will relaunch their delayed bids to become national champions today.

The England Boxing Junior Championships suffered a late postponement last weekend in Harlow.

The semi-final of the event has now been moved to Grantham, where the pair will again bid for success.

Hallawell goes at 57kg as the 16-year-old aims to make an impact against Sefton’s Daniel Barr.

And Donald, 15, competes at 60kg with Lasiterdyke’s Jake Fawthrop standing in his way.

The prize for the pair will be an England outing in the Three Nations like Dentith and Chamberlain, if they achieve success.

Wiseman knows that would prove incredible success for his outfit.

He added: ‘If we have two winners in the junior championships they’ll be boxing for England, too.

‘We’re branching out now, getting bigger and becoming more established.

‘We really are flying as a club at the moment and progressing well.’
