David Birmingham has told boxing fans to expect a belter of a show on Saturday night as he gets ready for a tear up on South Parade Pier.

The talented Portsmouth boxer is looking forward to a great occasion in his home city.

He’s been training really well since beating Anesu Twala in London.

Birmingham will be among the home fighters on show with Lucas Ballingall and Garry Neale also set for action.

It’s going to be great for them to all have a chance to box again in front of a good home crowd.

Birmingham said: ‘It will be nice to get back there and have a little tear-up on the pier.

‘We’ve got a good following down here.

‘The Portsmouth crowd are always good.

‘We have Lucas Ballingall and Garry Neale boxing so the Pompey lads will be out in force.

‘Ticket sales have gone well.

‘Everyone will be buzzing.

‘It will be a good atmosphere.

‘Promoter Chris Hitching has worked hard to get the show on.’

Birmingham is waiting to have his opponent confirmed for Saturday night.

No matter who steps up the former Pompey footballer is prepared and ready to target a good win.

Work with the Leigh Park Warrior Tony Oakey and trainer Brian Davidson has gone really well.

Preparation has been excellent.

Birmingham has been sparring with Neale and Southampton’s Harry Limburn, who will be looking to extend his perfect record to three wins when he takes on Jamie Quinn in Southsea.

They are all keen to put on a top show for the fans.

Then Birmingham will be ready for a return to London for his big fight in December against Youssef Khoumari, back at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, where he beat Twala.

It’s an exciting finish to the year for the lightweight who has seven wins from nine bouts.

After that he can take it easy and enjoy Christmas.

He added: ‘Training has gone to plan. Everything is spot on.

‘I have a great team around me.

‘Youssef Khoumari is undefeated and it will be a big step up.

‘He’s a very good prospect, a fit lad.

‘After that fight I can enjoy Christmas with the family.’

Doors open at 6pm on Saturday night at South Parade Pier with the first bell at 7pm.
