Great Britain boxer Ebonie Jones misses out on Women's World Championships quarter-finals

Ebonie Jones' hopes of reaching the AIBA Women's World Championships quarter-finals have been dashed.

The 20-year-old flyweight, from Drayton, suffered a unanimous decision defeat against home fighter Pinki Rani in a preliminary round bout in New Dehli.

Talented Jones was more than a match for Rani - a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist in Glasgow back in 2014 - but the final decision did not go the Portsmouth boxer's way.

Jones scored unanimous decision victories over Indonesia's Ainun Azizah and Spain's Andrea Lasheras in preliminary round bouts earlier in the competition.

But her hopes of reaching the last-eight of the world event were ended by Indian Rani.
