Ivy-Jane Smith is celebrating a world bronze medal.
The Heart of Portsmouth ace is guaranteed a medal return at the AIBA Youth Women’s World Championships, after victory in India today.
Smith defeated Kazakhstan’s champion, Laura Yessenkeldi, with a unanimous verdict to progress to the semi-finals of the competition at 54kg.
It represents a huge success for the 18-year-old, who is flying the flag for England at the highest level.
Smith has already racked up a unanimous victory over Thailand’s Phonnapa Laban in her opening contest.
Now the switch-hitter’s aiming to go all the way against the best emerging female talent on the planet.
