EBONIE JONES has continued her phenomenal breakthrough year after scooping a prestigious national double.

Heart of Portsmouth’s outstanding young prodigy has picked up the National Female ABAE Championship title.

And that’s on top of her landing the much-coveted OCS Young Sportsperson award in front of England’s top emerging talent.

Jones was due to box in the ABA final tomorrow after unanimously outpointing Attleborough ABC’s top talent Emma Dolan last weekend.

But her northern counterpart has now withdrawn instead of facing the EU champion and Junior World Championship bronze medallist, handing the 15-year-old the title.

That follows on from Jones taking the OCS title on a glittering occasion in London.

She was chosen in front of 11 other winners to receive £10,000 funding over three years.

The awards took place at the Shard in the capital, following a high-tea reception. The ceremony was hosted by Gabby Logan.

Proud father, Brian Jones, said: ‘It’s been a great time for Ebonie. She beat a good boxer in Emma Dolan and won the OCS title.

‘The awards are for young athletes at the top of their game.

‘She will receive the money to help her over the next couple of years, too, which is a big help.’
