Cams Mill pub manager Sian Smith is guest starter for Fareham parkrun

One of the key reasons the run was able to start in April this year was thanks to the support from Cams Mill pub manager Sian Smith.

She will now be moving on after getting a promotion but was on hand to help out again on Saturday and she was the guest event starter.

The core volunteer team have enjoyed fantastic support and encouragement.

And the pub opens up early for Fareham parkrun every Saturday, they provide refreshments and also space to store the kit.

Since Fareham parkrun started on Saturday, April 9 1,442 different runners have completed 4,017 runs.

And she was first lady (24th overall) over the line as she recorded a time of 23.51.

Alison Lawrence finished second in 24.43 and Jemma Oliver, of Fareham Crusaders, was third in 24.44.

Tom Bertram was first over the line in a new personal best of 18mins.

Peter Abrahams, of Fareham Crusaders, was second over the line in 18.03.

Matthew Brown, of Erme Valley Harriers, was third over the line in 18.40.

Fareham parkrun welcomed 44 first timers on Saturday and 34 recorded new personal bests.

Representatives of 16 different athletics clubs took part.

Rach Hughes had an excellent morning as she cut 40 seconds off her personal best.

She has improved her time by six minutes from her first parkrun time back in May.

Her impressive running has been helped by the excellent atmosphere at the parkrun, with great support from volunteers and encouragement along the way.

James Yeo also set a new personal best with an excellent run as he knocked more than a minute off his previous top time.

Sara Smith was one of the newcomers to parkrun who completed the 5k on Saturday morning.

She enjoyed the run and appreciated the support from the volunteers around the course.

The popular event at Cams Hall Estate started on Saturday, April 9.

All parkruns are free and start at 9am every Saturday morning.

The course at Cams Hall Estate is a simple clockwise out-and-back route using the Hampshire County Council Easy Access Trail.
