Century for duo at Southsea parkrun

It was an excellent morning along the seafront for the 266th Southsea parkrun with 426 people finishing the 5k.

The centurions are both regulars along the promenade having done 86 and 84 of their parkruns there respectively.

Baffins Fitclub duo Lee Collier-Williams and Amy Hedley did their 50th parkrun.

It was a great morning for their team-mates as well with personal bests for Matthew Hedley, Clare Rutter, Paul Ingleby, Richard Harris, Lee Hammond, James Yorke, Laura Hyman and Jon Olsen.

Barbara Ireland also joined the 50 milestone club on Saturday.

Emma Jolley was the first female finisher with a 19.02 clocking.

Second was Hannah Barnard who ran a personal best of 19.37 and third was Susan Bryan who also got her fastest time with 21.01.

It was a great morning for the Burr family.

Junior runners Harriet and Eddie set new personal bests of 21.44 and 23.23 respectively.

Rich McAleer finished in first position with a time of 17min 46sec.

Ross Partridge had a good, strong run to get a new personal best time of 18.08.

Southsea parkrun is on Saturdays at 9am and starts by Rocksbys Restaurant at Clarence Esplanade, PO5 3PG.

Mike Houston led the way at Chichester parkrun on Saturday with a time of 17.14.

Hercules Wimbledon club runner Gina Galbraith finished first female as she completed the 5k in a new personal best of 19.17.

Second lady Robyn Ellis also got her fastest time for the course as she ran the event in 20.42.

In total 195 people completed the 5k at Oaklands Park on Saturday.

All parkruns rely on volunteers each week to ensure they can take place.

There is a variety of different roles including marshal, timekeeper, scanner, course set-up, photographer and run report writer.

When you have volunteered 25 times you get a free parkrun t-shirt.
