City athletes impress in UK Inter County Championships

Lachlan Wellington achieved double medal success at the UK Inter-County Championships in Loughborough.

The City of Portsmouth athlete finished third with a time of 20min 05sec for the 6k course.

Hampshire under-17 men earned team silver, with Jacob O’Hara finishing 34th overall in 21.05.

Steven Cross finished 147th with a time of 22.45.

Hampshire under-15 girls were fifth with City’s Ellie Farrow the highest-placed for the team in 16th (16.16).

Saffron Moore was 39th in 16.43 and Nicole Ainsworth 80th in 17.12.

Olivia Wiseman placed 25th in the race for Sussex (16.29).

Hampshire’s senior ladies’ team took the bronze medal.

City of Portsmouth and Havant athlete Rhiannon Dunlop finished 108th with a time of 34.36.

Anya Pigden, who runs for City, and Aldershot’s Maisie Grice, from Fareham, helped the under-17 women’s Hampshire team finish 11th.

Grice finished 66th in 22.21 and Pigden was 103rd with 22.50.

Callum Crook raced for the Hampshire under-15 boys’ team. He was their scorer, finishing 105th with a time of 17.21. The team were placed 14th.

Hampshire under-13 girls’ team finished 16th, with City duo Isabelle Brydon (150th, 14.34) and Olivia East (193rd, 14.55) and running well.

The English Schools’ Cross Country Championships take place today in Norfolk.

It is one of the major target events for many of the City athletes.
