City of Portsmouth beat Basingstoke'¦Â Ladies lost out to Winchester

The good form continued for City of Portsmouth with a 3-0 win against Basingstoke.

Rob Hunt got the opening goal and Ivan Boswell made it two.

Adam Payne completed the victory in the second half.

The City team started well in their efforts to continue their positive form away at Basingstoke.

They played with a high intensity, having the best of the early chances and were rewarded for their efforts following a short corner which Hunt netted.

A second goal followed as man-of-the-match Boswell found himself unmarked on the back post to score.

As the second half began a run from Rob Hunt earned City a short corner.

The ball was well delivered and Payne swept home on the dive.

City of Portsmouth second team drew 2-2 with United Services firsts at home.

The visitors were powerful and took advantage of City's struggling opening minutes of the game to move 1-0 up.

City found themselves another goal down soon after.

As the City started side began to settle themselves they were rewarded and ended the first half with a goal from Alfie Hall.

The second half was tougher than the first seeing the physicality continue. 

City dusted themselves off and continued to play.

A fine penalty save from City keeper Ed Smyth kept the game alive and City soon earned a short corner which was narrowly missed at first but the rebound was controlled, taken aside two defenders and sweetly punched into the goal by striker Martin King.

It was a valuable point earned from a 2-2 draw in one of the most bruising games of the season so far.

Man of the match was awarded to Ben Hayward.

City of Portsmouth men's third team lost 2-1 to Bournemouth fourths.

Alan Ball scored for City.

The City under-16 boys earned a 1-1 draw with Southampton.

Jacob Shucksmith volleyed his effort in at the far post following a dribble and reverse flick shot from Harry Hellyer to equalise.

City Ladies lost 3-0 to Winchester.

The seconds were beaten 4-2 by Hamble.

Michelle Hughes scored the only goal of the firat half for City.

But Hamble were quickly ahead in the second half with two strikes and went on to wrap up their win.
