City of Portsmouth beat Petersfield to earn derby win

A strong City of Portsmouth saw them get the better of Petersfield with a 4-2 victory at Furze Lane.

The City men's first team have been impressive in recent matches, writes Luke Parsons.

But they were under pressure with a fast start to the match.

Hosts City had the best of the opening exchanges, scoring from a Pete Hayward short corner.

City were punished shortly after when Petersfield equalised with their own short corner.

But before the break Stu Avery scored as City took the lead.

They then extended it shortly after with a Freddie Steel goal.

Petersfield came out fighting in the second half and managed to put the pressure back on the hosts.

They eventually managed to net with a quick break.

City responded well again with Avery's second goal to seal the 4-2 win.

It was a tough day for City men's second team as they lost 7-0 away to Winchester.  

An impressive performance saw City ladies' second team beat Trojans 4-3.

Michelle Hughes got a first-half hat-trick.

Trojans battled back but Jemma Gard netted to give City the win.

City ladies' first team were beaten 3-1 by the New Forest.
