City's fantastic four at Southsea parkrun

City of Portsmouth ladies Emma Jolley, Emma Williams, Sian Hawkes and Katie Simister occupied the top four female positions at Southsea parkrun on Saturday.

Jolley ran 18.55 after a busy race schedule recently which included smashing her half marathon personal best in Cambridge with a superb time of 1hr 22min 51sec.

Simister was next as she continued her excellent recent form with a new personal best time of 19.54.

Hawkes finished third in 20.04 and Emma Williams was fourth in 20.15.

Paula Williams, who runs for Fareham Crusaders, beat her personal best as she recorded a good time of 21.26 to cross the line fifth lady.

Nicky Thomas, of Portsmouth Joggers, also had an impressive run as she broke 22 minutes with her time of 21.54, while Lawrence Craddock ran 21.47, a very good time for his first ever parkrun.

Adrian Faultly was first overall as he set a PB of 17.53.

Southsea had 368 runners for their 181st event along the seafront on Saturday, starting at Speakers’ Corner, near Rocksbys Restaurant (9am).

Several members of Portsmouth Triathletes were also in action as they step their training up with the new season fast approaching.

Michael Hawkes and Alan Doney both recorded good new personal bests of 19.27 and 19.29 respectively.
