New side Gemini also impressed '“ beating Netball Ninjas 11-1, Killer Curveballs 8-1 and Netchix 5-2 on their way to second spot.

Hotshots claimed a decisive 4-2 win over Gemini, with Therese Horswell shining under the post. Netball in the Community organiser Debbie Laycock said: '˜Versatility tournaments are always great fun and this was no exception.

'˜They also act as a great leveller and so the results showed as all teams got points on the board. We had a fair few draws and our aim of everyone leaving with smiles on their faces, seemed to be successful.

Liphook-based M&Ms, playing in only their second festival, finished 10th.

Star player Emma Thorne was voted as best and fairest of the Festival.

She said: '˜I was so excited. It's my first ever trophy and now proudly on my mantle!'

Havant You Seen Us finished with the wooden spoon but were all cheers after a 3-0 win against Queens Head Royals.

Jo Dennet and Nicola Baker were both in contention for the star-player prize, such was their enthusiasm and determination.

Laycock added: '˜As always our umpires were fantastic '“ without them we couldn't play and the event was played in a really great atmosphere.

'˜We held a guess the weight of the cake competition and raffle, raising £200 for Macmillan Cancer Care, which is fantastic.

'˜Thanks to everyone who supported by bringing a prize, buying a ticket or having a guess '“ many did all three, proving how generous our netballers are!'
