Councillor to take part in charity skydive

A FAREHAM councillor will jump out of an aeroplane to raise money for charity.

The Ukip leader for both Hampshire County Council and Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Chris Wood, will be skydiving on September 4, in a fundraising effort for the RSPCA’s Stubbington Ark.

Cllr Wood will be joined by nine other people in an event organised by community fundraiser Kim Barton-Smith.

Opened in 1984, the Stubbington Ark is the Solent branch for the RSPCA, and covers 400 square miles, including Portsmouth and Southampton.

The councillor is looking to raise £400, and has already reached £135.

Cllr Wood said: ‘This fantastic local organisation has been a part of our community for as long as many people can remember and does a wonderful job looking after animals, ranging from dogs to chickens.

‘I am just happy to be able to do my bit to help.’
