Have your say

The major question for Giles White and Dominic Cork is over whether to hand Michael Carberry his first Championship outing of the season for the four-day clash at Sussex.

The left-hander came through a club game for Havant at the weekend with 82 not out and showed no ill effects from his blood clot on the lung that has kept him out all season.

And as he has been named in the squad, it seems pointless to take him along to Hove and not play him.

Elsewhere, James Tomlinson and Kabir Ali are back in the fold, while Shahid Afridi is only contracted for the t20.

There is certainly competition for the 11 places.

It seems most likely that there is a straight decision between Ali or Tomlinson, while Imran Tahir looks set to beat Danny Briggs to the spinner’s position, despite the youngster’s four-wicket haul yesterday.

But with Michael Lumb (ankle) and wicketkeeper Nic Pothas (appendix) still on the sidelines, Michael Bates will come in for his first Championship appearance of the year.
