Rory Hipwell revealed he is in dreamland after signing for Hampshire.
The 16-year-old pace bowler, from Oxfordshire, caught the eye of the Ageas Bowl outfit’s coaching staff when representing the south & west at the Bunbury Festival.
And they beat a clutch of other counties to capture his signature.
Hipwell is currently a pupil at St Edwards School in Oxford but will begin training at the Ageas Bowl this winter in preparation for the 2016 season.
The teenager said: ‘I very much look forward to joining Hampshire.
‘It is an opportunity I could have only dreamed of when I started playing cricket years ago.
‘I will look to cherish every moment I have to train in such a professional and quality environment and make my cricket the best it could ever be.’
Charlie Freeston was delighted to announce the signing.
Hampshire’s head of player development said: ‘We are delighted Rory has decided to join us at Hampshire.
‘He is a very high potential young fast bowler and we are looking forward to working with him at the Ageas Bowl this winter and also watching him perform in a Hampshire shirt for the 2016 season.’
