Matt Coles and James Tomlinson tore through Leicestershire as Hampshire claimed a rare Championship win in their penultimate clash of the season.
Coles (five for 75) and Tomlinson (four for 60) saw the rock-bottom Grace Road outfit skittled for just 184 in the rain-affected match to seal victory by 180 runs.
With James Vince and Liam Dawson hitting centuries for Hampshire, the visitors declared on 364 for two before both skippers agreed to forfeit an innings on the final day to make a game of it.
Leicestershire might well have had second thoughts when they were reduced to 36 for five as Coles and Tomlinson ran riot early in proceedings.
But a partnership of 69 between Niall O’Brien (25) and Tom Wells (82) held things up before Ruel Brathwaite eventually broke the stand.
Tomlinson then returned to finish off the innings, taking his season’s haul to 47 wickets in division two as Jimmy Adams’ men picked up only their third victory in the four-day game this season.
