Shahid Afridi has been confirmed as Hampshire’s second overseas player for this season’s Friends Provident t20.

The 30-year-old Pakistan international was due to sign for the county last term but instead opted to return to Test cricket to lead his country.

Afridi is also currently skippering his side at the ICC World Cup and is expected to arrive at the Rose Bowl in May.

While there are still a few uncertainties over his international commitments throughout the campaign, Hampshire expect him to be available for the entire t20 competition as they bid to defend their crown.
