Graham Burns led by example as Havant II notched a 38-run success over St Cross Symondians II in Southern Electric Premier League division three on Saturday.

The Havant Park skipper
took five for 29 to ensure his side defended their total of 264 all out and claimed maximum points.

Cameron Prentice (two for 51) and Bobby Dyer (two for 51) also made important breakthroughs as the home side bounced back from defeat to Trojans the previous week.

All-rounder Prentice had earlier played a key role in propelling his side past the 250-mark.

He struck 53 in just 35 balls – with seven fours and two sixes – as he shared a blistering stand of 78 with Jez Ord (37).

Their final flourish came after superb knocks from James Christian (60) and Gareth Ransley (40) put Havant II in a commanding position.
