JAMES VINCE will miss out on playing for his country at his home venue after he was overlooked for England selection.
The Hampshire batsman was selected for the recent one-day trip to Ireland, which was abandoned because of rain after just 18 overs of the Irish innings.
But despite not even getting the chance to bat in that game, he is not among the 14-man squad which will feature in the upcoming five one-day internationals against New Zealand.
The Ageas Bowl hosts the third of those matches on Sunday, June 14.
Vince has not yet found his supreme best this season, while there are more players available this time.
However, it seems particuraly harsh that he is not included after making his bow.
Ian Bell, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Gary Ballance and Moeen Ali are among those who have also been left out.
ENGLAND: Eoin Morgan, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler,
Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett,
Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, James Taylor, David Willey, Mark Wood
