Josie Czura picked up two silver medals for Hampshire at the UK Inter-Counties Cross-Country Championships on Sunday.

The City of Portsmouth athlete, 14, finished second in the under-15 girls’ 4,000m race with a time of 17min 53sec at Crofton Park, in Birmingham.

Czura’s fine showing led Hampshire to team silver.

City’s Elizabeth Rose crossed the line 32nd (19.38).

She was Hampshire’s fourth scorer.

The under-15 boys finished third with two City athletes in the scoring four.

Lachlan Wellington (13th, in 17.37) and Jacob O’Hara (55th, 18.28) both ran well over the 4,500m course.

City’s Alex Teuten took 19th place in the senior men’s 12,000m race (35.50). He was Hampshire’s first scorer as the team finished eighth.

In the under-13s girls’ 3,000m race, Cheyenne James finished 102nd (14.16) and Bo Sansom was 161st (14.36).

Havant’s Callum Crook was Hampshire’s top runner in the under-13 boys’ 3,000m race as he finished 48th (12.39).

City’s Josh Goldfinch came in 78th, just 15 seconds behind Crook.
