Tom Scully waved goodbye to the Isle of Wight after powering to Tour Series glory.
The Kiwi rider, nicknamed Scud, blasted clear in the closing stages of the criterium battle in Ryde on Thursday night.
And afterwards he admitted his relief as his racing legs proved more effective than his sea legs.
‘I was a bit sheepish about the waves on the way over yesterday morning,’ said the 25-year-old Madison Genesis star.
‘I haven’t taken too many ferry crossings in my life, so it was an experience for me.
Once back on dry land, Scully was blown away by the support,
He added: ‘The crowd was mega.
‘All the way up the climb they were two or three deep.
‘And on the finish straight people were going crazy. It was a great atmosphere.’
